second-shooting at richard and maria's wedding with christina of brosnan photographic

This summer, I had the opportunity to second-shoot at a wedding with my friend and colleague Christina of Brosnan Photographic. It was the first time I had tried second-shooting and the second time I had the company of Christina at a wedding (see here). Christina is currently the Weddingsonline.ie Photographer of the Year and Overall Wedding Supplier of the Year. It was a great opportunity to watch a observe a fellow colleague and learn as well as having fun. It's certainly less pressure to not have to be the one in charge and to have the time to stand back and experiment a bit. I had a great time and felt very welcome by Maria, Richard, and everyone who attended their wedding. It was simply fabulous! Thank you to Christina for inviting me to second-shoot, and to Maria and Richard for allowing me to be a photographic wedding crasher on the day!

An Irish wedding website, Nuptales.ie featured Lisa O'Dwyer Photography in their September newsletter recently. Incidently, the gorgeous bride in the photograph wears a fab head-piece from Jules which is also featured! See Gráinne's wedding here.

ensign ful-vue and esso pump

I tried to find an old fashioned Irish phonebooth like the wooden ones I remember from the first time I came here in 1999, but I don't know if any exist anymore. I was taking some film shots with my Ensign Ful-Vue TTV camera from the 40s and needed something vintage and shabby. I love the colours of this old Esso petrol pump I found somewhere in County Clare. Now to build a collection of Irish un-intentionally shabby chic photography. Anyone know where any old phonebooths are?

kerstin and jimmy's engagement shoot at the botanic gardens dublin

Kerstin, Jimmy, and I decided to go the Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin at the last minure for their engagement. It was the day of the All-Ireland Hurling Final, and buckets of rain were forecast for the afternoon. So we needed somewhere that provided buildings to run into if it rained. I was delightfully surprised that an outdoor art exhibition was in situ at the Gardens. The art work and flowers provided brilliant backdrops for the shoot.

I had a fun time with Kerstin and Jimmy that day, and I look forward to their wedding on Monday! Thanks too to Kerstin's visiting friend Christine from Germany for all of the "behind the scenes" shots :)

leah and gavin's engagement shoot in howth, co dublin

Leah and Gavin had their engagement shoot recently in Howth. I was a bit worried about the weather because the skies were lead grey and it was threatening rain all day, but it stayed dry and actually added a lovely cool neutral tone to the images. Leah and Gavin were a bit camera-shy at first, but turned out to be true naturals and really cute on camera. They are a such a sweet couple and I look forward to seeing them again on their wedding day in May! Enjoy!

And my favourite from the day...

ursula & jonathan's rock n' roll wedding at finnstown house with peacocks, boxers, and a topsy-turvy cake!

Remember the sneak peek post I did earlier this week about the rock n' roll bride with the green Doc Martens? Here is the full wedding of Ursula and Jonathan, one of the coolest couples I've had this year.
Ursula is from Austria originally, but now lives in Ireland and works as a chef. Isn't her mouse apron she made as a child cute?

Ursula's fab bee gem-encrusted shoes are Kurt Geiger from BT2, while her pretty blue-sashed dress is from deStafford Bridal, Dublin.

The ceremony was held at an historic church in Crookstown, Co Kildare, the SS Laurence Mary Church. I love how Ursula's aunt and uncle wore their traditional dress from Austria and brought a little bouquet of Austrian flowers! So sweet! The church was decorated beautifully with flowers by the mega-talented Dave Clancy Floral Design of Kilcullen. And Jonathan was so excited to have his two baby boxers come for a photo with the two of them after the ceremony. Can't believe Ursula managed to keep them from muddying her lovely dress :)

Jonathan is one of the green-keepers at Finnstown House where they had their fabulous reception. Luckily it wasn't raining so the guests enjoyed themselves outside listening to traditional Irish music. Finnstown House has two resident peacocks who were a bit shy and didn't shake their tail feathers that day sadly.

This beautiful and fun couple are so in love so I must admit it was easy to get romantic shots of them by the gazebo in the late evening sun. I really enjoyed being part of their day and want to thank them for being so wonderful. And also for the most scrumptious meal I've ever had at a wedding!

sneak peek of a cute rock n' roll bride and gorge bouquet by dave clancy kilcullen

A little sneak peek of last week's wedding that I'm working on. The bride was so cute sitting on the steps with her green Doc Martens!

And this was the utterly gorgeous flowers by Kilcullen florist extraordinaire Dave Clancy. More to come this week!
