yummy wedding cakes from cake-a-licious!

I had a great afternoon recently taking photos and meeting people at the Alternative Wedding Event in Dublin. I was immediately drawn to these gorgeous cakes by County Meath cake-makers Cake-a-licious
Not only are the designs are simple and tasteful, they are really yummy and lovely!
I was thrilled when cake artist extraordinaire Amy Millar agreed to let me interview her.

When did you start making cakes and what makes your cakes unique?
Started about 3 years ago when my mum asked me to do her wedding cake but I always decorated the family Christmas cake and my kids birthday cakes. I think my cakes are unique because I like thinking outside the box and I will try pretty much anything a client asks (within reason). I love using colour and I try to achieve a striking look that the clients and their guests will love.

What is your favourite kind of cake and why?
I love doing anything that's different and challenging, I love when I client gives me details about a person and I have to create a cake that's perfect for them. My favourite flavour has to be the chocolate biscuit

Do you make anything besides cakes for weddings?
I make all kinds of cakes for all occasions. I do alot of novelty cakes too with anything from tractors to people and everything in between

What is a typical day like at Cake-a-licious?
Don't really have a typical day. I guess I do all my baking in the morning and then the decorating and flower and model making takes place when my kids are in bed. I can be up till four in the morning working on cakes, but I love it!

I think you'll all agree that Amy's cakes are super pretty and you'll have to trust me that they are super yummy too! And I totally applause any fellow working mom in the wedding industry. We're the ultimate multi-taskers! Best of luck Amy and Cake-a-licious!
